A truly stunning authentic antique Chinese Mamianqun skirt - a rare piece from the early twentieth century, or possibly late nineteenth century. Traditional Mamianqun pleated, wrap skirt of fine silks with absolutely incredible embroidery all over, even embroidery hidden within the pleats, edged with black silk bands and blue piping, which defines the structure and pleating. Made to have been worn with a long embroidered jacket or tunic to extend over the unembellished upper portion. No closure remains, just two loops, wrap fit, unlined.

Condition: Very good antique condition. This garment has been stored for many years and has signs of age and wear, including some areas of shattering and shredding to silk trim, especially to the hem areas and black silk portions. One portion of trim on pleats has lost its stitching and could be tacked down if desired. No real staining or spotting present. This piece is still very structurally sound but recommended for study or display and not wear. Sold as is.
